Job Summary The overall purpose of this position is to support the strategy and operations of IEEE Humanitarian Technologies Board aligned to its mission and charter. The mission is to support impactful and ethically informed volunteer-led initiatives, programs and projects, and mutually beneficial partnerships, as well as to inform policy formulation that harness technology and innovation to address societal challenges (including disaster recovery) in a responsive, effective, and sustainable way. These activities are focused on leveraging technology for sustainable development and disaster response across IEEE to infuse best practices, enhance collaboration and create an umbrella for partnerships for scale. This position will be accountable for the following outcomes in support of the HTB volunteer leadership: 1. Impact Strategy & Operations: a. Design and development of strategies and programs that ensure maximum impact and oversight of the Humanitarian Technologies Activities across the organization. b. Support HTB's own programs including continuous improvements of operational processes that drive the mission. 2. Partnerships & Outreach: a. Identify and grow internal and external partnerships with other IEEE Operational Units, industry, government, multilaterals, academia and NGOs to ensure growth aligned with Humanitarian Technologies and organizational objectives. b. Design and implement outreach and marketing strategies to ensure increased IEEE volunteer engagement and philanthropic investment across various programs globally. c. Support the continuous improvement of our fundraising and marketing plans and the messaging of the programs in support of the expanded mandate for HTB. This person will contribute to HTB and its committees including all aspects of partnerships management and committee support to ensure the execution of annual strategic objectives. As a member of the Corporate Activities staff and the Humanitarian Technologies team, the incumbent must be ensuring value to IEEE at large by identifying and facilitating ways to innovate and make improvements and working collaboratively with the highest management levels, both within and outside of IEEE. The position reports to the Senior Director, Humanitarian Technology Activities, and functions as an individual contributor. The position will be hybrid and will require attendance in IEEE's offices in Piscataway, NJ. Key Responsibilities Impact Strategy & Operations in support of the HTB volunteers leadership: o Serves as staff lead for the Humanitarian Activities impact strategy within the department and in support of other programs. o Develop, orchestrate, and execute portfolio plans, involving a matrixed array of stakeholders in alignment with approved budgets and proposed impact targets both within and outside the organization. o Support the program management and operations of the Humanitarian Technology Activities to increase efficiency and prepare the programs for scale. o Generate quarterly reports and respond to ad-hoc reporting requests from the volunteer leadership and Senior Director, analyzing portfolio performance and providing insights, progress updates, and suggestions for improvement. o Manage additional activities and projects as delegated by the Senior Director and agreed to by HTB to achieve the organization's and team's objectives. Partnerships & Outreach: o Supports actively the outreach and fundraising strategy to build strong partnerships and serves as key point of contact both internally and externally to increase the visibility, reach, and effectiveness of the HTB's programmatic vision for IEEE humanitarian activities. o Cultivate relationships with crucial internal stakeholders within internal Humanitarian technologies programs and beyond to enhance partnerships and philanthropic investment growth. o Champion and engage in both internal and external opportunities to promote Humanitarian Technologies Activities to influence systemic changes in policies and practices within the society and beyond. o Represent Humanitarian Technologies at high-level speaking engagements both at IEEE and external events and conferences. o Source, nurture and oversee partnerships with academia, private sector, public sector, and nonprofits to achieve well-defined impact objectives for advancing HTB's annual strategies and fundraising efforts. Education Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Public Administration, Business, Marketing or International Affairs. Req Master's or other advanced degree Req Work Experience 10-15 years of cumulative work experience with at least 5 years work experience in nonprofit management, at least 3 years of work experience in fundraising, partnerships and stakeholder management. Some experience in the technology for sustainable development and/or humanitarian engineering field is a plus. Req Skills and Requirements Demonstrated experience in strategy development is required. Work experience in partnership development is required. Prior experience designing and deploying marketing strategies for rebranding and repositioning of philanthropic programs is a plus. Work experience in the nonprofit, multilateral, or public sector is a plus. Prior experience in the humanitarian technology and technology for sustainable development sector is a plus. Skilled negotiator and problem solver. Exudes high energy and possesses the confidence to establish meaningful connections quickly. Superior leadership, program management skills, including the proven abilities to manage multiple initiatives in a start-up-like environment and to influence individuals who have no direct reporting relationship. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities, detailed oriented and with the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision. Possesses strong verbal and interpersonal skills, enabling effective and courteous interactions with staff, upper-level management, volunteers, and consultants. Technologically savvy, and actively seeking solutions and IT tools to address business challenges. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and Google Apps for Business is a prerequisite. Ability to effectively work and partners the IEEE professional staff, volunteer leadership and external partners which IEEE executive staff, high level volunteers and IEEE members of Board of Directors, Organization Unit volunteer officers and leaders, and C-Level executives in industry, government, academia and NGOs. Capable of excelling both in roles behind the scenes and those with high visibility to the public, as well as within volunteer and staff organizations. Displays intellectual curiosity, receptive to feedback, interested in continuous learning and a readiness to step out of their comfort zone to achieve desired outcomes.
