The People (Human Resources) Generalist for Home Health and Hospice Agency.

This is an in-person, part-time opportunity located in Burlingame, CA.


They are responsible for overseeing a wide range of HR functions, from managing employee relations to overseeing payroll processes to ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The People department plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the organization, and the People (Human Resources) Generalist is the driving force behind it.

MUST have Home Health Agency experience.

Duties and responsibilities of a People Generalist include:

  • They are responsible for overseeing the management of employee relations processes to ensure effective resolution of conflicts and problems.
  • They conduct, oversee, or assist with the handling of employee relation issues to address employee concerns and grievances and to implement appropriate action and accountability practices.
  • Also identifies a fair and inclusive process for addressing employee grievances, which includes overseeing the investigation of employee concerns and ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures. They aim to ensure a just and equitable resolution for all parties involved.
  • They provide strategic support, thought partnership, and coaching to employees at all levels of the company.
  • They remain attuned to changes within the organization and proactively identify potential employee relations risks, developing plans to address them.
  • They provide guidance and coaching to managers at all levels to handle employee behavior and performance issues. They also assist with the development and delivery of performance feedback and action plans, including corrective or disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • They strive to provide a supportive and empowering environment that promotes positive employee relations and helps drive the success of the organization.
  • They are responsible for overseeing the use of effective documentation techniques and maintaining accurate, confidential records related to all employee relation matters and investigations.
  • They interpret and apply their understanding of personnel policies, employment laws, and regulations to provide guidance or clarification on employee relation issues.
  • They oversee the recruitment and selection process and ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations in the areas of compensation, benefits, and leaves of absence.
  • They lead employee appreciation events, such as Employee of the Quarter celebrations and holiday festivities.
  • They assist in developing training materials and performance management programs to help ensure employees understand their job responsibilities.
  • They also play a role in promoting learning and development opportunities for employees.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements and Skills:

  • The ideal candidate for the People (Human Resources) Generalist role should have at least 3 years of proven experience working as an HR Manager, Generalist, or Employee Relations Specialist.
  • Experience in the Home Health or Hospice industry is a must.
  • The ideal candidate should be people-oriented and results-driven, with demonstrated experience using human resources metrics.
  • They must have a strong knowledge of HR systems and databases and the ability to design and implement HR strategies, as well as strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills are a must, as well as the ability to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
  • A thorough understanding of California labor law and HR best practices is also essential.
