We have an opening for a full-time, Human Factors Engineer, Expert to join our talented, dynamic team in support of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

The Human Factors Engineer, Expert will lead the development and implementation of human-centered design practices within various projects, focusing on enhancing usability, safety, and effectiveness of healthcare IT systems. This role requires conducting extensive research and applying industry trends to devise strategies, evaluations, and designs that assess products and processes.

In this role, the Human Factors Engineer, Expert will

  • Conduct research to understand user needs and apply human-centered design principles to healthcare IT systems.
  • Lead usability testing sessions, including preparation, execution, and analysis of results.
  • Communicate complex human factors issues to engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Develop and recommend design changes to improve system usability and safety.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to integrate human factors considerations into system development.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% within the continental United States.
  • Doctorate Degree in Human Factors Engineering, Ergonomics, or related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in human factors engineering, usability testing, and system design.
  • Expertise in SAFe's Lean Agile principles and practices.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage high-profile human-centered design projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply quantitative and qualitative research methods.
