We have an opening for a full-time, Human Factors Engineer, Senior to join our talented, dynamic team in support of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

The Human Factors Engineer, Senior will apply human-centered design principles to healthcare IT systems, aiming to improve usability, safety, and effectiveness. This position involves collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to incorporate human factors considerations into the design and evaluation of systems and processes.

In this role, the Human Factors Engineer, Senior will

  • Conduct human factors research to understand user requirements and integrate findings into system design.
  • Plan and execute usability testing sessions, analyze results, and recommend system improvements.
  • Collaborate with design and development teams to ensure human factors principles are incorporated into product designs.
  • Provide human factors guidance and support throughout the system development lifecycle.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to project teams and stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding and implementation of human factors considerations.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% within the continental US.
  • Master's Degree in Human Factors Engineering, Ergonomics, Psychology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in human factors engineering, with a strong background in usability testing, user research, and system design.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply human-centered design principles in a healthcare IT or related environment.
  • Familiarity with SAFe's Lean Agile principles and practices, with experience in agile development environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex human factors issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
