SUMMARY/SCOPE: Human Performance LabStudent Assistant: The lab assistant will assist the Director of the HumanPerformance Lab (HPL) on projects and duties assigned. These projects andduties will vary including:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with the planning, daily operations and activities inthe HPL

Assist in training undergraduate and graduate studentassistants in testing protocols, and operation of equipment in the lab.

Assist in class demonstrations on the use of the equipmentand education of how the equipment can be used in different professional settingsand research within the field.

Assist in conducting physiological and physical assessmentson students, athletes, faculty, staff and the general public.

Assist in maintaining and disseminating up to datepretesting protocols for each test and ensure subjects have knowledge of it.

Assist in ensuring safety and HPL guidelines are followed byusers and participants of the lab.

Assist in the calibration and maintenance of the HPLequipment.

Assist in performing software updates and update equipment,and operating manuals for equipment in the lab.

Assist in cleaning and maintaining spaces in the lab.

Assist in preparation of the Lab for testing protocols andactivities.

Assist in creating communications and of scheduling fortesting.

Assist in creating and maintaining a master electronicschedule of all HPL activities for each day of the term.

Assist in communicating with KINE professors aboutavailability of the lab and or equipment for their classes.

Assist in administering check out and return of equipmentused for classes.

Assist faculty with lab experiences and equipment use.

Assist in creating spreadsheets for test data collected inclasses and in research.

Assist in maintaining and disseminating pretesting protocolsfor each test and ensuring subjects have knowledge of it.

Assist with research projects of students and faculty,including IRB preparation, data collection, statistical evaluation, and presentingresults in written and presentation formats.

Assist in the identification, and application for external funding forresearch projects and services.

Assist in researching information on equipment within theHPL, and within the field.

Assist in creating, disseminating and managing HPL relatedinformation on social media and the HSU website.

Assist in the use of the HPL as a recruitment tool forprospective undergraduate student KHR majors and graduate KSPR students.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Undergraduate student in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Biology,or pre-health sciences. Masters student in Kinesiology, Sport, Recreation orother health science areas preferred.

Experience using Excel, SPSS and researchliterature databases

CPR and AED trained and certified

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to push, pull, lift, or stand to move, set up andoperate equipment in testing and exercise training.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Mostly indoor with occasional outdoors

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Have an interest in and have some knowledge of health, exerciseand human performance testing and/or training.

Need to have an interest in research, applied science, andlearning.

Need to be a self-starter who can take initiative to learn, read,and problem solve.

Need to be an outgoing type personality who can communicate wellwith others.

Need to be able to multitask.

Need to have proficiency with Microsoft software and technology ingeneral.
