Job Summary Job Description Permian Basin Overview ConocoPhillips and its heritage companies have operated in the Permian Basin for almost 100 years. Across New Mexico and Texas, the company holds conventional positions in the Northwest Shelf and Central Basin Platform, and an unconventional position in the Delaware Basin. Permian saw significant growth in 2021 with the acquisition of Concho Resources Inc. in January 2021 and the addition of Shell's Permian acreage in December 2021. At year-end, the company held approximately 1.5 million net acres in the Permian Basin. Net production for the Permian in 2022 was 461 MBOED. Description If you are selected as the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Specialist, you will perform multiple and varied HSE related tasks with little to no supervision. Field HSE Specialists are an integrated member of the asset team and are critical to the safe and responsible delivery of production targets. HSE Specialists identify barriers to extraordinary HSE performance, work within their sphere of influence to address these barriers, and/or elevate through the chain of command. The field HSE Specialist is a trusted advisor and interpreter for local leadership regarding HSE Management System compliance, reporting requirements, and accountability within the organization for incidents. This is a Safety Sensitive position. Responsibilities may include: Provide safety leadership to our Operations and Maintenance teams advising and coaching teams within ConocoPhillips policies and standards and compliance strategies to support the overall safety and health of our workforce Support the accurate and timely reporting of incidents and near misses to meet the requirements. This includes all leading and lagging data such as near miss, injury, Loss of Primary Containment (LOPC), Process Safety Event (PSE), Life Saving Rules (LSR), audit findings, etc. Ensure HSE excellence through training, involvement in behavior-based programs, auditing of management and safety systems, and site inspections, gathering and trending key performance indicators Maintain a proven understanding of the HSE Management System Partner with internal groups to use tools to advise the workforce of emerging trends identified in leading indicators Participate in incident investigations, leading incident investigations, learning teams, and preparing findings suitable for management review Act as a subject matter authority during field activities, ensuring compliance with procedures, LSR's and OSHA, and promoting full implementation of programs Support emergency response protocols and Incident Command System (ICS) roles during the initial response to an emergency. HSE Specialists must be trained to be able to apply ICS principles and responsibilities for emergency response personnel Participate in HSE&R auditing, whether it be preparing for an external audit, supporting an internal BU or contractor audit, or acting as an authority for a Process Safety Startup Review (PSSR) or Focused Audit Support on-the-job safety meetings by aiding, direction, and resource materials as needed, to enhance overall effectiveness and impact Basic/Required: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer Current/Valid driver's license 3+ years of upstream HSE experience 3+ years of experience with HSE and Operations Management Systems Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft O365 applications: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams and Word Intermediate knowledge of data management systems, i.e.: Intelex Willing and able to perform/align (with or without reasonable accommodation) with following: Work in temperature extremes or adverse weather conditions; Work in several different geographic locations every single day; Work in a company-owned vehicle; Wear appropriate special safety equipment; Climb heights up to 24 feet; Walk, bend, stoop, lift, push, and pull; Work weekends and be on call Preferred: Bachelor's degree or higher in Safety, Environmental Sciences, other related field, or foreign equivalent ASP, CSP, CIH or other certifications 7+ years of experience in the upstream energy industry Advanced proficiency with Microsoft O365 applications: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams and Word Ability to network and gain cooperation from members of other workgroups Listens actively and invites new ideas for exchanged opinions, then influences and acts to drive positive performance and achieve results Builds positive relationships based on trust and seeks collaboration across organizational boundaries to achieve goals Delivers positive results through realistic planning to accomplish goals Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what is right Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical Drives thoughtful and pragmatic change, inspires innovative thinking and continuous improvement, and models adaptability through resourcefulness, flexibility, and positivity Apply Before: April 27, 2024Sponsorship: ConocoPhillips' sponsorship for employment authorization in the U.S. is NOT available for this position.
