Human Resources Technician II is assigned to the NC Department of Adult Correction (NC DAC) Disability/Retirement section of the Central Human resources office. This position is part of the benefits team and is responsible for administering the Retirement, Disability, and Death Benefit Programs for DAC employees. We're hiring to fill for (3) Human Resource Technician II's ( ). Specific job duties include the following: Serve as the liaison between the NC Depart of Treasurer, Retirement System Division, and DAC employees. Reviews retirement and disability applications to ensure eligibility, timeliness, and accuracy, ensure all DAC and Department of Treasurer procedural requirements are met. Processes new disability applications, set up new files, send additional information letters and/or approval/denial letters to the employee and their work location. Communicates effectively with agency Health Benefit Representatives (HBRs) regarding matters related to retirement and disability case management, policy, and procedures. Handles a large volume of calls and/or emails from employees and HBRs daily. Provides the manager with forms to pay employees that have been approved for short-term disability on the monthly payroll. Maintains a database for short-term disability, retirement and death. Provides counsel and guidance to employees through the entire Disability and Retirement application process and while out on Short-Term Disability. Utilizes BEACON/SAP and ORBIT daily to research, monitor and track all applications. Daily maintenance of the incoming/outgoing application database tracker will be required. Reports all employee deaths to the Retirement System immediately after notification from a work facility is received. Completes all necessary documentation to determine final payroll status as well as benefit letters to the family and work location for employee deaths. Processes all incoming mail daily. Processes Leave of Absence (LOA) and Separation Actions in the BEACON/SAP System to include but not limited to Disability (Short-Term, Long-Term, Extended Short-Term), Retirement, Employee Deaths, Process leave payouts due to employees and/or estate. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. About the Department of Adult Correction (DAC) The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons, Correction Enterprises, the Division of Community Supervision, and the Division of Rehabilitation & Reentry.The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed below, along with the Minimum Education and Experience requirements, are REQUIRED to qualify for this position. Intermediate knowledge of processing a variety of personnel actions relating to benefits in the State of North Carolina's OSC Integrated HR-Payroll System/SAP (formerly known as BEACON) or another HRIS Payroll System. Associate's degree, typically in Human Resources or relevant field from an appropriately accredited institution and 1 year of experience required; or 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources; or equivalent combination or education and experience.
