$4,000 Sign on Bonus Mon - Fri 8:30a - 5:00p NO WEEKENDS Qualification Requirements Must be a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) or able to obtain within first 90 days of employment. 6 months of work experience in a home health agency, hospital, and/or long-term care facility or is actively enrolled in an accredited LPN/RN school of nursing with evidence of clinical skills training. Has working experience charting in an EMR system, Netsmart system preferred. High school graduate or equivalent. Demonstrates ability to read, write and follow direction and instruction. Has the physical ability necessary for extensive standing, lifting, and pushing. Demonstrates interest and empathy for the terminally ill and is comfortable with issues of death and dying. Possesses strong communication skills and the ability to interact positively and professionally with patients, families and other co-workers. Possesses a valid driver's license with an automobile in good working order that is insured according to agency requirements. Essential Job Responsibilities Provides basic personal care to patients as delegated by the RN and included on the Hospice Aide plan of care. Meets safety needs of patients and uses equipment safely and appropriately. Assists patients at meal times including but not limited to meal preparation and feeding as assigned and defined by the Hospice Aide plan of care. Provides basic skin care to prevent breakdown of tissue over bony prominence and reports observations to the RN. Observes patient's conditions/symptoms and reports observations to the RN. Assists in ambulation and exercise as delegated by the RN and included on the Hospice Aide plan of care. Assists with bedpans, urinals, colostomy care, and catheter care. Assists with personal laundry and light housekeeping related to the patient care area. Provides emotional support to patient and family. Accurately and thoroughly documents care provided according to agency standards. Responsible for learning and utilizing technology made available by the agency to increase efficiency, communication and performance of duties. Attends staff meetings and completes all mandatory training. Holds in strictest confidence all patient information and discloses information and data only to persons authorized by Hospice. Performs other duties as assigned. Hospice Aides will not function in any manner viewed as the practice of nursing according to the Ohio and Michigan Nurse Practice Act. Hospice Aides will not administer medications, take physician orders, or perform procedures requiring training, knowledge and skill of a licensed nurse, specifically sterile procedures. Hospice Aides may have exposure to infectious diseases. Hospice Aides in homecare will drive to patient homes and facilities in various weather conditions and will be subject to day and/or night-time travel.
