Position Summary To help students develop proficient reading skills that will contribute to their academic growth. Principal Duties & Responsibilities Use the science of reading to plan small group and/or one-on-one intervention. Coordinate aspects of assessment including planning for program wide universal screening & academic support and instruction. Collaborate with administration to identify students who need additional support/intervention; develop individualized strategies. Lead small science-of-reading based intervention. Collect and review progress monitoring data for students receiving intervention. Help to foster establish and maintain an emotionally safe and trauma-informed environment at HSHU. Maintain professional boundaries and mutually respectful relationships with students, colleagues, supervisors, and community partners with the foundation of open communication, respect, and collaboration. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Attributes Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred. 3 or more years working as a reading/math interventionist, specialist, or schoolteacher. Thorough understanding of best practices for reading and/or math instruction based on current research. Ability to teach all aspects of literacy and mathematics. Ability to administer and interpret assessments and interventions, and group students for instruction based on the findings; share data with teaching staff and assist staff in gaining relevant insights about students.
