Histology Technician

Position Summary Under general supervision, the Histology Technician performs all laboratory procedures as required according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures Core Responsibilities tests in a timely manner. standard in stat testing-both in and out patient. ability to coordinate simultaneous tests/procedures accurately. and documents QC accurately. determines acceptability/integrity of specimens. safe/clean work area. and reports accurate results. maintenance troubleshooting effectively. and safely embeds, cuts, labels and stains tissue specimens. coverslips and labels all slides. files all slides and blocks. demonstrates teamwork. workload based on volume Minimum Requirements Degree and HT (ASCP) or HLT (ASCP) Certification, or eligible computer skills, excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills be able to walk and stand for extended periods with the ability to lift, push and pull of medical terminology, as well as computer proficiency, with excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills. be able to walk and stand for extended periods with the ability to lift, push and pull Preferred Skills and Experience Degree from an accredited institution to 4 years of experience as a Histology technician in immunohistochemical staining and Cytology Preparation Additional information perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Consistently determines acceptability/integrity of specimens. Maintains safe/clean work area. Produces and reports accurate results. Performs maintenance troubleshooting effectively. Correctly and safely embeds, cuts, labels and stains tissue specimens. Correctly coverslips and labels all slides. Accurately files all slides and blocks. Consistently demonstrates teamwork. Prioritizes workload based on volume Minimum Requirements Associates Degree and HT (ASCP) or HLT (ASCP) Certification, or eligible Intermediate computer skills, excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods with the ability to lift, push and pull Knowledge of medical terminology, as well as computer proficiency, with excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills.
