Histologist Per Diem Day Kimball Healthcare is Hiring Histologist. Job Title: Histologist Department: Laboratory Position Type: Staff Weekends: As Needed Histologist Job Summary: Prepares tissue, using fixation, decalcification, embedding, sectioning, mounting, and routine and special staining techniques for microscopic examination by Pathologist. Has total understanding of patient safety and histological techniques necessary to guarantee complete patient safety and anonymity. Histologist Essential Responsibilities: Maintains and operates equipment essential for Histology Section of Clinical Lab according to manufacturer and laboratory procedures. Accurately identifies patient samples and accessions them into Pathology Information System using right account numbers and tissue alpha codes. Responsible for proper storage of both blocks and slides, once pathologist completes microscopic exam. Uses and disposes of hazardous materials as stated in laboratory policies and State and Federal Guidelines (including surgical specimens/autopsy specimens). Runs control slides and does not release slides until control material is examined by histologist to verify quality of staining procedure. Histologist Education Qualifications: ASCP eligible. Histologist Experience Requirements: 5 years experience in a hospital lab preferred.
