Responsibilities What you'll be challenged to do: Whitney, Bailey, Cox & Magnani, LLC, now a division of TranSystems, is excited to announce we are actively searching for a Highway Project Engineer to join our award-winning team in our Virginia office. Primary Responsibilities: Computing horizontal and vertical alignments for roadways. Preparing typical sections and details. Preparing cross-section elements. Preparing Traffic Control Plans. Assisting with the development of a complete set of construction documents including documents required by other disciplines. Coordinating with Sub-Consultants and internal disciplines to develop complete roadway plan sets. Back checking work of other Engineers or Sub-Consultants. Writing and preparing Project Specifications. Preparing Quantity Calculations and Construction Cost Estimates. Assisting with coordination of the technical aspects of projects with Clients. Qualifications What you bring to our firm: Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited school; 3-8 years of experience in Highway Engineering; E.I.T. Certification; Knowledge of automated office software such as MS Office; Excellent communication and organizational skills. Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members. What we'd prefer for you to bring to our firm: Master's Degree in Engineering or Business Administration; Familiarity with Virginia Road Design Manual, Road and Bridge standards, IIM's, estimating practices, specifications, and regulations; Demonstrated knowledge of AASHTO, FHWA, and MUTCD standards; Working knowledge of MicroStation/Geopak/Open Roads/Open Roads Designer; Knowledge of project management practices including project scheduling and budgeting and associated software such as Primavera and MS Project; Professional Engineering (P.E.) license.
