Job Title: High School Teacher -Head Baseball Coach Wage/Hour Status: Exempt Reports to: Building Principal Pay Grade:

Primary Purpose

To help students learn subject matter and skills at appropriate levels that will

contribute to their development as mature, capable, and responsible individuals.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

Minimum of a bachelor's degree and area of specialization when required for the position.

  • Valid Texas teaching certificate or such other credentials as may be required by the State Board for Educator Certification for this position.
  • Preferred Teaching Fields are English/Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Major Responsibilities and Duties The teacher shall
  1. Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.

  2. Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of all students based on the district's educational philosophy, goals, objectives, and individual student plans.

  3. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.

  4. Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation.

  5. Establish and maintain standards of appropriate student behavior.

  6. Employ a variety of instructional strategies and media which meet the needs and capabilities of the students.

  7. Evaluate student performance on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.

  8. Refer students with special needs to the appropriate district specialist and participate on committees related to individual student planning.

  9. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, self, equipment, materials, and facilities in order to provide an ongoing, safe classroom environment.

  10. Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.

  11. Assist as directed in the daily operations of the school.

  12. Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when needed.

  13. Plan and supervise duties for teacher aides and volunteers.

  14. Maintain and improve competence through participation in professional training.

  15. Attend all staff meetings and serve on committees as requested.

  16. Perform all other duties as deemed necessary by the Superintendent or designee.

Must be able to maintain a high level of concentration and control emotional stress in current work environment.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

The Teacher/Athletic Coach shall:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of UIL rules and C-FB ISD policies regarding athletics and rules, theories, techniques and strategies of the sport being coached.
  • Prepare his/her teams or individuals for competition by providing appropriate workouts and instructional sessions for teaching the appropriate strategies and skills.
  • Provide activities which promote physical conditioning and development.
  • Provide appropriate student discipline and motivation.
  • Provide a safe environment and adequate supervision of students.
  • Provide appropriate information, in a timely fashion, relative to his/her team(s) or individuals to the media, college, and professional scouts; support groups, parents, students, and school district personnel.
  • Discharge effectively duties assigned by his/her supervisors pertinent to his/her coaching assignment.
  • Promote his/her sports and recruit athletes into his/her sports program.
  • Perform evaluations of other coaches under his/her supervision (when applicable) according to C-FB ISD Policies.
  • Provide for his/her own professional growth in the areas of his/her own sports.
