Blytheville High School is seeking applicants for the position of behavioral interventionist paraprofessional. Behavioral interventionists observe and interact with individuals to assist with the healthy functioning of the students in our setting. The primary focus will be on specific behaviors that disrupt, exclude, or otherwise negatively impact the person or group. Behaviors requiring intervention vary by student population. For example, a behavior interventionist working in a classroom setting may seek to modify challenging or disruptive behaviors caused by emotional stress, learning disabilities, or medical conditions. In our area, we have high poverty and an unacceptable suspension/dropout rate. Some of the responsibilities Behavior Interventionists handle regularly are: Assist in the creation, execution, modeling of behavior, and implementation of plans to match the needs of each student and reinforce learning activities. Help with data gathering and assessment for behavior support services to track and report advancement toward specified targets. Implement alternative communication intervention techniques and serves as a role model to teach pupils how to communicate successfully. Monitor students' development in specified areas to record information about their academic performance and behavior. Use and exemplify social skill development strategies like social tales, peer facilitation, and peer training to help students reach their academic, social, emotional, and behavioral objectives. Must have one of the following: 60+ Hours from an accredited college or university Associate's Degree from an accredited college or univeristy Successful completion of the Para-Professional Praxis Exam
