Duties Instructs and evaluates rated and non-rated aviators in pilot and instructor pilot proficiency in the AH-64D/E Longbow Attack Helicopter and Longbow Crew Trainer. Instructs and evaluates rated and non-rated aviators in the AH-64D/E Longbow Attack Helicopter utilizing systems, techniques, and maneuvers. Operates the multi-engine, tandem seated AH-64D/E Longbow Attack Helicopter while instructing or evaluating the copilot/gunners station. Conducts classroom instruction on all aspects of the AH-64D/E to include training maneuvers, aircraft systems, aerial gunnery, basic attack helicopter employment/tactics and other subjects as assigned. Monitors standardization requirements; recommends changes in lesson plans, program of instructions, training methods and techniques. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance. This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter. This position requires an Army Class II flight physical prior to employment. This position has been designated Mission Essential. This position requires rotating shift work. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Certifications: This position requires you possess the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Pilot Certificates, FAA Flight Instructor Certificate and/or appropriate military rating. FAA Medical Certification: Position requires the incumbent to possess a current first or second-class medical certificate in accordance with FAA regulations at the time of appointment. Minimum Flight Hours Requirement: Total Flight Hours- 1500 Pilot in Command - 250 Night Flying - 75 Flying Time in the Last 12 Months - 100 (May be waivered, subject to approval authority) Instructor Hours - 500 Heavy Helicopter Hours - 500 (Up to 250 hours flying time acquired in heavy multi-engine airplanes may be substituted) Instrument Hours - 75 Actual Weather- 10 (This requirement applies to AH-64E candidates ONLY.
