Heavy Equipment Operator ABOUT US Founded in 1918, Okland Construction operates as a regional general contracting and construction management company with nearly 1,000 employees and growing. It supervises the architectural, engineering, bidding, contracting, building, and inspection from the beginning to the end of the project and specializes in concrete self-preform on a large commercial scale. POSITION SUMMARY Okland is looking for a heavy machine operator to oversee and train the craft team members and assistant operators. As the operator, you will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all equipment and will be able to excavate without supervision around different types of utilities, buildings, and roadways. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Must have knowledge of pothole procedures, pipelines and grade compaction requirements. Excavate trenching for underground utilities. Operate heavy equipment to excavate, move, load and grade earth, rock, gravel and other materials efficiently to maintain project schedule. Ensure the trench is excavated to the proper depth/grade. Be aware of proper rigging of pipe, manhole barrels, etc. and ensure safe work procedures are followed during the lowering of materials into the excavation. Ability to operate multiple machines. Ability to train and supervise assistant operators and craft members as needed. Maintenance of machines. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Minimum one year of related experience. current driver's license with the appropriate class and all necessary endorsements. Construction experience preferred. CERTIFICATION/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS Must maintain a valid US driver license. Must maintain a current DOT medical card. OSHA 30-Hour construction is required or has the ability to be obtained. Forklift, MEWP or other equipment experience and certification is preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS Ability to make decisions and solve problems. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to follow instructions. Knowledge of tools, materials, methods, and practices commonly used in construction and maintenance sites. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Understanding of technical, operation, service, or repair manuals. Physically capable of climbing up and down, above, inside and under equipment. WHY OKLAND?
