Take and record patient vital signs, blood pressure, and temperature. Assist physician in performing procedures and exams. Act as liaison between patient and primary medical care provider. Recognize changes in patient's condition and communicates responses and/or changes to nursing personnel or physician. Utilize medical terminology to effectively communicate with patients. Stock procedure rooms, ensuring availability of equipment, instruments, and supplies for exams and procedures, and cleaning rooms after exams. Confirm medical records are prepared and available to include proper entry of patient's data. Utilize automated systems Military Electronic Record Systems, Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), Composite Health Care System (CHCS) and Health Artifact and Image Management Solution (HAIMS) to input patient data. Performs front desk duties as necessary. Help Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required. This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident. This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call "basis, necessary to meet mission requirements. This position requires incumbent to lift up to 40 lbs. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing patient records; taking and recording vital signs, blood pressure, and temperature; staffing exam and procedure room and cleaning room after exams; utilizing a variety of automated systems such as Military Electronic Record Systems, Genesis, Composite Health Care System (CHCS), and Health Artifact and Image Management Solution (HAIMS) to check patients into clinic and update patient data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred but not required Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
