  • Must be a very good writer. Must be personable and authentic, make human connections about safety. Safety is a people game. Walk the floor of the Mill, provide friendly reminders about Safety (to a mainly Union workforce). Some data/admin work.
  • Must come from a paper mill or other heavy industrial/manufacturing environments with at least 5 years of applicable experience.


We re seeking a Senior Health and Safety Specialist to support our established safety culture journey. You ll be responsible for understanding the Mill operations, developing relationships with all groups of employees, auditing behaviours, and driving the safety culture toward improvements in safety performance. The selected candidate must be able to identify opportunities and drive sustainable change and will have responsibility for ensuring Ticonderoga is current with all corporate safety initiatives, policies, as well as governmental compliance. He/she will work closely with the Regional Safety Management team, corporate counterparts and peer group across the Mill system to accomplish goals. Active participation in activities outside the Mill, to include but not limited to OSHA events and networking with other manufacturing facilities is expected.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidates must possess a clear ability to lead others to accomplish a common goal. To be considered, the candidate must have the ability to manage and coordinate multiple and complex assignments. He / she must understand team dynamics; and have the ability to lead a diverse workforce. The candidate must be able to lead meetings, conduct training, have strong listening skills; as well as, have the ability to effectively manage change and handle conflict in the workplace. Qualified candidates must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to influence others. A strong propensity to lead and manage the mill safety observation system in the pursuit of an accident-free work environment is a requirement.
  • Position requires a bachelor s degree in occupational health and safety (or related field) and a minimum of 5+ years experience managing industrial health & safety programs in a broad range of manufacturing environments, an appropriate professional certification, or equivalent experience. Must be willing to travel up to 20 % of the time.
