We are currently seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental Specialist to join our talented Leadership Team. Who are we? Located in Franklin Park, IL a few minutes northwest of Chicago, Vapor Power International, LLC is an industry leader in the design and of steam generators and thermal fluid heaters. Custom engineered-to-order, their products serve a broad range of markets from food processing to petrochemical applications. Founded in the early 1900's, Vapor Power has grown from a small supplier of heating products for the railroad industry to one of the most regarded suppliers of specialty equipment for steam generation and process heating. Located in Morristown, TN 45 minutes northeast of Knoxville, Precision Boilers manufactures industry-leading electric and fuel-fired hot water boilers and steam generators plus a wide range of accessories such as deaerators and blowdown tanks. This is an onsite position from our Morristown, TN location and requires at least 30-40% travel between Morristown and Franklin Park, IL. What is the opportunity? Reporting to the Vice President Human Resources, your Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist (HSE) expertise to guide the management team on HSE best practices and culture, train employees on safety policies and practices, conduct regular inspections, generate health and safety assessment reports, and ensure that all occupational guidelines and regulations are followed. Responsibilities: Meeting with the management team to define HSE goals and objectives. Training employees in health and safety policies and best practices. Conducting inspections and identifying hazards and HSE violations. Providing solutions and intervention strategies for hygiene, health, and safety hazards. Implementing new health and safety protocols and measures to ensure compliance with regulations. Monitoring operational processes and employee activities. Generating assessment documentation, incident and accident reports, and health and safety manuals. Reporting to management, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies. Preparing and submitting health and safety compliance documents to the relevant organizations. Keeping abreast of the latest HSE trends, policies, regulations, and best practices. Chair company safety committee. Must be comfortable with travel between Chicago and Morristown locations on a continuous basis. Team player, aligned with the success of the company goals. Performs other duties as assigned. Education & Requirements: Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, safety management, or similar and 2+ years of experience as an HSE Coordinator or Specialist or 4+ years of experience as an HSE Coordinator or Specialist plus OSHA or similar HSE certfication. OSHA or similar HSE certification. Detailed knowledge of relevant regulations such as OSHA, EPA, and ANSI. The ability to read and interpret safety data sheets. Proficiency in computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong leadership and training abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills/ability to work with colleagues at all levels. Acute attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. Strong organizational and time management skills. Candidate must be authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorships). Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Prolonged periods of standing or walking. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. Must be able to access and navigate all areas in the facility and access all machinery.
