Position Overview: Join our dynamic team at South Decatur Jr-Sr High School as a Health Sciences/Medical Sciences Educator, where you'll have the unique opportunity to blend your expertise in nursing with a passion for education. We're seeking a registered nurse who is ready to transition into the rewarding field of teaching to lead our Ivy Tech-aligned dual credit healthcare courses. As a teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals. Position: Health & Medical Sciences Educator High School Date of Vacancy: School Year Filing Deadline: April 30, 2024, or until filled Qualifications: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana. More advanced education (BSN, MS) is preferred. Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as a registered nurse OR active teaching license. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and healthcare principles. Experience working with high school students or in an educational setting is desirable but not required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students. Commitment to professional growth and development in the field of education. Willingness to apply for and maintain a Workplace Specialist license. Performance Responsibilities: Provide engaging and comprehensive instruction for dual credit healthcare courses, including medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) classes. Deliver instruction for Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Biomedical Sciences courses, incorporating hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences to foster students' understanding of biomedical concepts. Facilitate laboratory activities and simulations to enhance students' practical skills and understanding of healthcare and biomedical concepts. Assess student learning through a variety of methods, including exams, projects, presentations, and hands-on demonstrations. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their academic growth and development. Participate in professional learning communities and ongoing professional development to enhance teaching effectiveness and stay current with best practices in healthcare and biomedical education. Provide mentorship and guidance to students interested in pursuing careers in healthcare.
