We are hiring an Health Information Administrator for our growing team. The Health Information Administrator will primarily be responsible for maintaining accurate and confidential records in compliance with regulatory standards and organizationals policies. The Health Information Administrator will supervise a team responsible for processing requests for medical records, as well as supporting the revenue cycle department in the submission of medical records necessary for accurate and timely filing of claims and appeals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process requests for continuity of care
  • Facilitate the transfer of medical records for clients transitioning between healthcare providers and/or facilities
  • Process requests for continuity of care, ensuring the timely and accurate transfer of relevant medical information to support ongoing treatment and care coordination.
  • Maintain medical records
  • Organize and maintain medical records in accordance with established procedures
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness and confidentiality of medical records
  • Assist in updating relevant information including demographic data.
  • Respond to payor requests
  • Support the processing of requests from insurance companies, government agencies and other payors.
  • Retrieve and review medical records to fulfill requests for claim processing, utilization review, audits and other purposes.
  • Compile and organize medical records and other supporting documentation for appeal submissions.
  • Coordinate with providers, insurance representatives and other stakeholders to gather additional information and documentation.

Key Experience and Education Needed:

  • Minimum of Associate Degree
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), and/or associate degree in Health Information Management preferred
  • Previous experience in medical record management or related field preferred
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems, continuity of care processes and compliance requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Other Qualifications to be Considered:
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to read detailed health records
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to operate computer and other equipment in the office
  • Must have sufficient mobility to move around the office and the community
