HEALTH CARE SPECIALIST Dunkirk, NY (+Central+Ave.+Dunkirk+NY+USA) Job Type Full-time Description Position Data: Title:Health Care Specialist Grade:E72Exempt:Non-Exempt:X Reports to:Center Director Basic Function or Position Summary: Provide basic and emergency health care services at a COI Child Care Center, including health assessments, screenings, medication administration, first aid, and review of medical records.Hours per week 35: Monday - Friday 7:30am to 3:30pm. Salary $18.27 - $19.27/hourly Security Clearance:Lv. 3 V, A, C, R Requirements Position Responsibilities and Specific Duties: - Maintain knowledge and ensure compliance with COI's Health services and Early Care and Education's procedures and protocols. - Provides oversight, review, and approval of child health records and health histories. - Develops and tracks individual health care plans, including special diets and medications. - Provide first aid for child injuries and illnesses. - Documents children's incidents. - Works cooperatively with management, staff, and parents to promote positive health outcomes while ensuring compliance. - Completes children's screenings within 45 days of enrollment initiates referrals for evaluations. - Facilitates community referrals, including access to a medical home for children and families. - Manages and material resources by controlling expenses and minimizing waste - Maintains complete information on CAPSYS and mandated health files - Maintains and initiates contact with families such as attendance, health information, or result of an illness or incident. - Assists in transitioning of children's records. - Administers medication in accordance with Federal and State regulations. - Performs assessments of children's health status. - Promotes agency mission. - Maintains confidentiality and complies with code of ethics. - Maintains consistent professional customer service. - Job performance incorporates integrated service delivery model while promoting self-sufficiency. - Other duties as designated by supervisor Key Working Relationships: A. Internal: Center Director, Classroom staff B. External: Community agency representatives, funders/partners, and local Health providers Supervisory Scope: A. Number of staff supervised: 0 B. Titles supervised: None Organizational Responsibilities: - Assist with maintaining inventory of and ordering supplies/equipment - Ongoing tracking, monitoring and reporting, including health outcomes. - Assists in policy, procedure, and program plan updates. - Participates in organizational committee structures as appropriate. - Participates in organizational and divisional management systems. Knowledge, Skills Required: - NYS Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B) certification required; NYS Advanced Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (AEMT-P) Certification preferred. - High School Diploma or GED required. - Knowledge of nutrition and wellness standards beneficial. - Ability to work as an effective team member/leader. - Strong computer, phone, written and verbal communication skills. - Excellent organizational skills including ability to prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks, documentation, maintaining files, monitoring, and charting. Special Requirements: - Maintain NYS Emergency Medical Technician certification required. - Completes all OCFS requirements. - Maintain a current Driver's license. - Reliable transportation. - Ability to work flexible hours. - Lifting requirements: up to 50 lbs. - Must be able to provide consistent even tempered customer service at all times. - Works compassionately with diverse population. - Experience with community programs.
