STARTING HOURLY RATE: $30.00. BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for all safety related issues to ensure that the Company is in compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local health and safety regulations at the plant. Provide support and guidance for site management and drive continuous improvement in the Safety and Health performance of Omya employees. RESPONSIBILITIES: Champion healthy and safe working conditions and practices to assist site management in achieving site, region and global goals and targets. Perform work duties in accordance with RAM and Group health and safety requirements. Perform the key liason function to represent the Company with regulatory agencies. Accompany inspectors during inspections by local, state or federal agencies. Perform safety inspections together with members of the safety committee and management team. Record all safety deficiencies, recommend corrective action and follow up to ensure timely correction. Develop health and safety procedures, work instructions, and job safety assessments. Keep all programs and procedures current with all applicable laws and regulations and in compliance with Omya Health and Safety Standards and Guidelines. Ensure completion of all regulatory, Omya regional, and Group health and safety incident notification, reporting and recording requirements. Provide health and safety training and required annual refreshers for Omya management and employees. Training must cover all mandatory safety issues as well as site specific safety rules.Provide site specific hazard training for all contractors and visitors. Keep training records on employees and contractors. Maintain documentation and files in a proper and organized manner. Coordinate the root cause investigation of all incidents and injuries on company property or areas within the company's responsibility. Report such incidents to Plant Management in a timely way. Report industrial injuries to all necessary governmental agencies, worker's compensation insurance carrier, and RAM Health and Safety. Work with Human Resources and RAM Health & Safety to follow worker compensation cases until the case is closed. Initiate revisions to policies and procedures when changes in plant conditions warrant an up-date and tocomply with changes to applicable safety and environmental compliance laws and regulations. Ensure that SDS books throughout the plant are kept current. Maintain hazardous material manifest and other regulated material manifest files. Interface effectively and smoothly with the local plant management and with RAM Operations/Sustainabilitystaff. Interact as a team member within the RAM Sustainability Team. Maintain Key Performance Indicators and monitor progress towards Company continuous improvement goals in the Safety and Health areas. Other duties as assigned. STARTING HOURLY RATE: $30.00. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor degree in Industrial Health and/or Safety or equivalent combination of education and experience. 3-5 years experience as a safety coordinator or administrator, preferably in an industrial manufacturing operation and formal training in workers' health and safety laws and regulations. Familiar with personal computers and application of MS Office, basic knowledge of the 6S, root cause analysis principals, capability to perform detail investigations when Incidents occur and coordination of safety committees with all employees. Good organizational and planning skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work in different work environments. Prioritizes work schedule based on guidelines provided by the Plant Manager and initiative and is able to work effectively with little direction. Excellent knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations as well as state laws concerning worker's health and safety compliance laws. Ability to interpret governmental regulations and define their applicability to operations and assets, develop comprehensive programs necessary for implementation and direct actions required to achieve compliance. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with supervisors, subordinates, other employees and contractors. EOE
