Position Summary:

The Health & Safety Manager will focus on improving health and safety at STARPLUS ENERGY by using his/her experience to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, control, and minimize hazards in the workplace. The Health & Safety Manager will engage employees in the development of a strong health and safety culture. This position reports to the EHS Director.




Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the health and safety department, including the planning, development, and implementation of health and safety initiatives
  • Conducts incident investigations to identify and eliminate or minimize the chances of preventable work-related illnesses and injuries
  • Functions as an expert resource for consistent implementation of company health and safety standards and programs
  • Responds to and reports emergency situations
  • Conducts new equipment reviews and sign-off
  • Performs Risk Assessments
  • Supports the EHS Director and manages the Health and Safety Specialists
  • Tracks and records data for safety-related activities including injuries, near-miss incidents, etc.
  • Enforces all company policies and ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Conducts Root Cause Analysis following any safety-related event
  • Communicates safety issues and concerns to departmental leadership in a timely manner
  • Performs other position related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Basic:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety Management or related field
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in general industry manufacturing
  • Previous experience managing health and safety personnel
  • Strong knowledge of all OSHA, ANSI, and NFPA standards
  • Strong knowledge of all federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to workplace health and safety
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • While travel is unlikely, the ideal candidate will be able to travel, with reasonable prior notice as required (domestic and/or international)
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as required

Preferred:

  • Ten years' experience in an EHS role
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Designation
  • Bilingual (English and Korean)

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work in front of a computer screen for extended periods of time
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
