As the Head of the Operational Excellence, the person in this role is responsible for reducing process complexity, simplifying functional interfaces, and working across functions and business lines to deliver value for the customer and SLS. This is a highly visible leadership role leading a team that is responsible for collaborating across and beyond SLS SCM to deliver the SLS operational efficiency and transformation goals. With the continued globalization of supply chains and increased reliance on internal and external partners to meet customer and business needs, the Head, SLS Operational Excellence will be responsible for and focused on: SB1 Your role: Collaborating across business lines to identify and implement best practices in tools, processes, and systems for implementation at the DX/SLS level. Working with Procurement to Improving how we manage our global supply chains and how we benefit from an improved cost position through operational excellence. Managing and prioritizing the productivity project backlog based on a clear set of criteria (need/impact), including CapEx expenditures; prioritization process and outcomes coordinated with key stakeholders. Leading and facilitating process improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. Developing a high-functioning PMO whose members can help identify and drive value streams focused on SLS customer and business outcomes. Developing and implementing operational excellence strategies and roadmaps in alignment with organizational goals, ensuring integration with business processes and systems. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify process bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for cost reduction, proposing innovative solutions to address these issues. Designing and executing training programs for staff at all levels on operational excellence principles, tools, and techniques to build an organizational culture of continuous improvement. Establishing effective end-to-end SCM processes from sourcing to delivery to reduce scrap, centralize inventory management, and improve warehouse and shipping logistics. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track the progress and impact of operational excellence initiatives, adjusting strategies as necessary. Facilitate the adoption of best practices in project management and process optimization across the organization, ensuring consistency and standardization where appropriate. Oversee the documentation and updating of processes and procedures to ensure they reflect current best practices and compliance with regulatory requirements. Research and implement new technologies or methodologies that can further enhance operational efficiency, staying ahead of industry trends and competitive benchmarks. Structured problem-solving experience to identify non-value activities and promote a culture of continuous improvement. Performance Monitoring: establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure productivity and transformation activities. Monitor KPIs regularly to guide strategic decisions and instill a culture of continuous improvement. Developing strategic plans to guide productivity predictability and operational efficiency for long term performance. Leveraging experience in cross-site development to lead and develop teams in multiple countries with different cultures, languages, and manufacturing environments. Required skills to have for the success of this role: Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain management, operations management, business administration, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred. Ability to lead transformational projects with a strategic mindset, critical thinking, and willingness to challenge the status quo. Demonstrated change management skills and executive presence; interpersonal, organizational and communication skills at all levels in the organization. Familiarity in data analysis, predictive analytics, data insights and exposure to AI/ML. High proficiency in Office 365 (i.e., Excel, PowerBI, and Qlik) and exposure to Design for Six Sigma methodologies and tools. Strong project management and facilitation skills with the demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to lead global teams with a track record of talent development. 10-15 years in managing complex, cross-site, cross-functional global programs. Experience in a leadership position is preferred. Willingness to travel up to 20% or as needed. Desired skills to have for the success of this role: Design for Six Sigma understanding especially Lean application/process planning. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification Agile / SAFe / Scrum Master certification Value stream mapping familiarity preferred. Strong and practical understanding of medical device development and manufacturing preferred. Relentless focus on data gathering and cleaning for accurate and actionable metrics. Experience working in a regulated / FDA environment & understanding of GMP and applying GMP practices and standards in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge and understanding of a Quality Management System and Regulatory processes including 21 CFR 820, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 60601-1, IEC 62366, and IEC 62304 standards is beneficial.
