Position Overview: Chewy, the fastest growing online pet pharmacy, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Compounding Pharmacist to oversee compounding operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of compounding techniques, regulatory requirements, and quality control procedures. They will be responsible for managing the compounding team, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. Responsibilities: Lead a team of compounding technicians, pharmacists, managers, and support personnel In close partnership with the Pharmacist-In-Charge, operate the compounding pharmacy in compliance with USP where applicable, and all relevant state and federal regulations Maintain knowledge of key performance indicators across operations, safety, quality, formulations, and compliance; Drive resolutions where KPIs indicate action is necessary Serve as subject matter expert and facilitator for all regulatory inspections and third-party accreditations/surveys Work cross-functionally with pharmacy leadership to meet business objectives with a customer-first focus Partner with pharmacy leadership to monitor internal and external customer feedback and drive continuous improvement initiatives Directly supervise compounding personnel when required Act as supervisory compounding pharmacist to complete sufficient training to allow for supervision of all compounding activities Complete and keep on file an up-to-date compounding pharmacist personnel file Minimum qualifications: Current pharmacist license (or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe) Willingness to gain additional licenses and/or certifications as required. Compounding and/or laboratory experience required in nonhazardous and hazardous compounding in non-sterile and sterile operations Knowledge of principles, theories and laws, policies and procedures that pertain to compounding, specifically USP, other USP general chapters, and best compounding practices Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and lead a team in a fast paced, high-volume environment Ability to operate various equipment including compounding devices (grinders, mixers, homogenizers, tampers), software and standard laboratory equipment (including sterilizers, measuring tools, etc.). Effective communicator and leader for team members, direct reports, cross-functional teams and executive leadership Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment including tight-fitting respirators Pharmacists will work in a variety of positions and locations such as sitting, standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and walking for prolonged periods of time Bonus: Veterinary compounding and handling of controlled substances preferred Experience with automated equipment such as automated capsule and tablet machines preferred Physical requirements: Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds, either with or without reasonable accommodation Must be able to stand for long periods of time, either with or without reasonable accommodation Work in a variety of positions and locations such as sitting, standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and walking; for prolonged periods of time Must be able to wear required compounding safety equipment for long periods of time when required Must be able to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls Must have visual acuity, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
