What We Are Looking For This position's primary purpose is to facilitate the removal of chemical waste from satellite accumulation areas and transport it to the campus central accumulation areas. Once transported there, the employee will properly manage the waste, whether through co-mingling it with other waste through bulking processes or placing it in storage for management at a later time. The employee also manages the online chemical waste inventory. An Associate's degree, two years of relevant experience, and a Christian faith are required. A Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant work experience are preferred. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. What You Will Do Remove chemical waste from labs and other locations around campus. Remove the chemical waste from satellite accumulation areas and transport it to the campus central accumulation areas. Manage all operations and process within the campus central accumulation areas. This includes bulking appropriate waste streams, placing non-bulkable waste streams in storage cabinets for later packaging by transportation and disposal contractors. Ensure all waste containers are appropriately labeled and dated. Additional duties include conducting weekly inspections, maintain engineering and safety controls, removing trash, keeping the room clean. Manage all chemical waste in the electronic chemical waste inventory. This includes receiving, reviewing, amending, and approving chemical waste pickup requests. Once chemical waste has been managed in the central accumulation area, assign those locations to the chemical waste in the chemical inventory. When waste is shipped off site, indicate the items as shipped in the chemical inventory. Arrange site visits with chemical waste transport and disposal contractors. Conduct DOT hazardous materials pre-transport functions. Assist the chemical waste transport and disposal contractors as needed. Approve and sign shipping documentation. Manage hazardous waste manifests. Ensure final copies of hazardous waste manifests are received as required by state and federal agencies. Manage the record keeping of hazardous waste manifests for the length of time required by state and federal agencies. Any other duties within the Environmental Health and Safety Department as needed. Lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
