Job Summary: The Role: Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of those struggling with substance use issues and/or their their families? We're excited to welcome a dedicated Harm Reduction Health Educator to our team at MaineGeneral Health. As a dedicated Harm Reduction Health Educator, you will play a pivotal role in our ongoing commitment to community health. Job Description: Responsibilities: Designing, Implementing, and Evaluating Programs: Develop and execute overdose prevention education programs to address the unique needs of our community. Outreach and Education: Conduct outreach and education initiatives covering naloxone distribution, HIV and Hepatitis C prevention, and safer sex practices. Collaboration and Travel: Collaborate with Community Health Departments and Resource Groups, traveling as needed, to assess needs and prioritize health initiatives. Data Management: Maintain accurate data tracking spreadsheets, ensuring data integrity through regular quality assurance audits. Inventory Management: Oversee and manage the inventory of naloxone supplies to support the community's needs. Event Participation: Actively participate in special events and projects, liaising with partners/sponsors to ensure the availability of necessary resources/materials. Community Interaction: Interact with and respond to the evolving needs of patients and communities, demonstrating a commitment to holistic community health. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree: In Community Health or a related field. Specialized Knowledge: Experience in substance use prevention or harm reduction is highly desirable. Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Autonomy: Ability to work independently with effective time management and problem-solving skills. Driving: Valid Maine state driver's license with acceptable driving record Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask. Communication Skills: Confident and effective oral and written communication skills. Team Orientation: A team-oriented approach, engaging effectively with a small team passionate about the work. Narcan Distribution Experience: Some experience around Narcan distribution is highly desirable.
