At Ecovyst, we are ready for change. This position actively analyzes the work environment, local culture, and policies to continuously improve Health and Safety performance on site. This position inspects the workplace for adherence to regulations on safety and health. They help design, implement, train employees, and audit versus compliance on programs to prevent injury and/or disease. Position travels 10% of time to support the Portland, OR site.Position may additionally travel up to another 10% to support other site audits and/or turnarounds. Some specific job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: TEAMS Lead Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) Meetings (monthly) Member of local Management Team Coordinate and Lead Emergency Response Team (ERT) activity (drills, critiques, training, equipment inspections, etc) Participate on BBS Team (as needed) Encourage Health & Wellness (H&W) Team FIELD PRESENCE Daily Field Audits such as BBS, LCPs, My Check 5s.20% target time in field.Recognize positive behaviors and/or hazardous situations, and provide feedback. Periodically attend Operations, Maintenance, and or Contractor Toolbox meetings (weekly) Promote good housekeeping Turnaround primary H&S support, including daily toolboxes, daily field observations, daily safety lunch, and daily 2PM meetings (2 units.every 18 months per unit).Approximately 80% time in field. Solicit HS feedback from employees TRAINING: Maintain Training Matrix (as needed) Prepare & Deliver Plant wide Safety Meetings (monthly) Set FMT/CBT schedule (annual) Mind Flash administrator (as needed) Coordinate Fire Extinguisher training (annual) Coordinate H&S equipment inspections (annual) Prepare and deliver refresher training effort for plant safety programs On-Board new employees Provide quarterly reports on training program status. PROCEDURES & PROGRAMS Liaison with contractors for safety issues. Maintain contractor safety program Develop new and maintain existing H&S Procedures Develop new and maintain existing ERT Procedures Management of Change H&S Approver (as needed) Variance H&S Approver (as needed) Maintain Preventative Ratio (monthly) Coordinate Industrial Hygiene Monitoring Ensure weekly, monthly, quarterly HSE Inspections are done satisfactorily. OTHER Participate in / Facilitate / Lead Incident Investigations (as needed) Prepare 30 Min Review and/or HSE Alerts (as needed) Enter HS related purchase requisitions and timely pay associated invoices Primary point of contact for regional, state, and federal H&S auditors Manage the site Equipment Specific LOTO program. Assist with Enablon Action Items Active involvement with Severe Weather preparedness Assist Maintenance with Sprinkler/Alarm inspections Assist in completion of process safety action items Act as the Facility Security Officer (FSO) and liaison to the contracted security force. MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS Support 20P Requirements (as needed) RC14001 Implementation and Maintenance Ensure Aspects and Impacts, Communication Grid, and Legal Register are maintained. Responsible to update the aspects list as new information becomes available (such as spill investigations, ministry/agency inspections, internal/external audits, process changes, etc.). Support RC14001 Coordinator in maintaining Consistent Document Control Train as management system auditor Follow the 10 Expectations of Leaders Follow Life Saving Behaviors Complete all computer based training & PWSM training by their deadlines to comply with HSE requirements & policies Be a visible presence on site to promote good health and safety practices and reduce risks. Maintain employee interest, involvement and support in all aspects of site safety programs Participation in risk assessment audits (PHA, CTA, JSA, etc.) as applicable. Stay current on updated plant technologies, policies, procedures, government rules / laws / regulations pertaining to this plant Lead, support, promote, improve, and enforce compliance, all HS&E, corporate/plant policies, procedures, performance standards and ISO/RC 14001 and Ecovyst 20 Principles Knowledge of OSHA & NIOSH standards, including PSM Familiarity with industry standards & practices (API, ASME, NFPA, etc) Well-trained & practiced in Incident Investigation 5 Why and RCFA or equivalent. Well-trained & practiced in Emergency Response (HAZMAT, Incident Command Structure, First Aid, Confined Space Rescue) Ability to comprehend, analyze, and understand the legal aspects of legislation and develop compliance programs to decrease facility process safety liabilities and reduce process risks Ability to speak in front of a group and demonstrated ability to be effective trainer Works well under pressure - ability to meet tight deadlines with quality results Strong communication/inter-personal skills - able to inspire and encourage the use of best practices at plant sites, able to communicate with plant staff, GBU management, and regulatory agencies Ability to relate to and communicate effectively with shop floor US Coast Guard MTSA / FSO Training preferred Must well versed in MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel, & Outlook.SAP experience a plus. Must understand basic chemistry Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED required - Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university preferred 5+ years of manufacturing experience (chemical plant / refinery experience or similar industrial setting preferred) 2+ years Health & Safety experience required
