Job Details

Groundwater Modeler Responsibilities: Support a variety of projects in California and Washington, including project planning, model design, development, calibration, application, and report writing. Projects encompass groundwater flow modeling, contaminant transport modeling, litigation support, water rights analysis, and more.

Model Development and Documentation: Design, develop, calibrate, apply, and review numerical groundwater flow and contaminant transport models. Prepare comprehensive modeling documentation and review findings for a range of technical applications.

Effective Communication: Craft well-written documents and compelling presentations to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences efficiently and effectively.

Project Support: Collaborate with project managers and senior staff to create project schedules and track budgets, deliverables, and progress reports.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Hydrology, Geology, Earth Sciences, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a groundwater modeler, with 5+ years desirable, for water resources projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge in numerical groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling, hydrogeology, data management, and technical writing.
  • Practical experience with IWFM, MODFLOW, Python or R, PEST, and ArcGIS.
  • Proficiency in Surfer, Github, AWS/Azure, Power BI, and Microsoft Access/SQL databases is a plus.
  • Civil/Environmental PE license or Professional Geologist (PG) license is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of California and/or Washington groundwater regulations, including SGMA requirements, is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and collaborate effectively with project teams.
  • Valid driver's license.
