Our Client, a Central CT machine shop that provides the industry with custom workholding solutions and runs production parts for aerospace and commercial customers is looking for a new team member to join their family owned business, as a manual grinding technician operating OD/ID and surface grinding equipment. This addition is part of succession planning for an employee who is a few years away from retirement, so they will work alongside of this grinding veteran for a few years to learn what they can during that time. The current hours of the shop are 7am-5pm Mon-Fri and 7am-Noon on Sat. Based on the existing workload, hours can vary from 40-60/week.
Core Responsibilities:
- Perform set-ups and operate machine, ensuring part conformance to specifications and requirements independently or w minimal supervision.
- Make necessary modifications or adjustments to ensure part meets dimensional requirements.
- Read and understand standard and geometric tolerances on blueprints and work instructions/operations sheets.
- Verify dimensions using standard measuring instruments, such as micrometers, depth gages, height gages and verniers.
- Hold tight tolerances associated with the machining of precision parts.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years in aerospace / manufacturing environment desired
- 5+ years of experience setting up and operating ID/OD and Surface Grinding experience preferred.
- Exceptional mechanical ability and strong mathematical skills.
- Experience working with aerospace and exotic metals
- Excellent communication skills and problem solving ability with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to solve complex issues.
Compensation and Benefits:
Pay: $30-37/hr
