I. Position Description The purpose of this position is to assist the Safety Manager in implementing the company's safety, health, and sanitation policy changes and requirements for compliance with regulations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct employee initial and refresher HAZWOPER, contractor, new hire safety orientation and other safety related training. Assist with developing and updating training content. Assist with reviewing and updating the site's written safety programs. Maintain facility wide atmospheric monitoring and ventilation surveys. Performs monthly and quarterly personnel and area air monitoring. Coordinate other industrial hygiene studies complete by third party contractors. Procure and maintains adequate inventories of required PPE. Investigate complaints as they relate to PPE and Inside Sanitation issues. Maintain readiness of facility's safety, industrial hygiene, and rescue equipment and supplies. Provide employee training as it relates to PPE. Supervise inside sanitation staff, manage safety equipment, determines quantities, and monitor budget. Provide needed support to COI's OHSAS management system. Perform appropriate audits and reviews of LOTO operation and confined space and hot work permits. Manage facility's fixed fire suppression system. Assist with incident investigations. Assist with maintaining compliance with the site's Blood Lead Level Program, including performing blood lead level counseling meetings. Other duties as assigned. II. Pre-Hire Requirements 2 - 3 years supervisory experience or background in Safety High school diploma or equivalent, associate's degree preferred Industrial hygiene experience Air monitoring/industrial hygiene experience Customer service experience Computer literate and able to use different windows based applications. OSHA compliance knowledge and experience III. Qualifications Knowledge and ability to drive a sit down forklift Safety training applicable to the job and equipment On the job training of tasks and responsibilities Quality system familiarization OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 awareness Plant EMS objectives and targets Significant environmental air aspects and impacts (plant) IV. Physical Requirements & Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment. Graveyard 3pm to 12am
