Job Description The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Grant Writer, Research Department, Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine R ROLE of the POSITION In the primary area, the incumbent works with OSP to navigate the pre- and post-award grant-related activities on behalf of the Division of Research and Provost's Office for the funded faculty. The incumbent will collaborate with staff members in the Office of Sponsored Programs and UNR Extension to identify and evaluate federal, state, and private grant funding opportunities in support of the mission of UNLV and UNR Extension; consults with leadership in the Division of Research and Provost's office and UNR Extension to determine whether identified grant opportunities would be of value to the academic mission of UNLV and UNR Extension; and then assists with the preparation and submission of competitive grant proposals. There is an expectation that these activities will involve collaborative interaction with faculty at UNR and UNLV that are associated with UNR Extension. During post-award, the incumbent works with the Extension faculty to ensure grant obligations are met, they have information to actively manage budgets, and that they can actively track expenditures. The incumbent will also support the PI in the preparation and submission of reports and other grant deliverables. In the secondary area of responsibility, the incumbent assists with the analysis of data and preparation of reports in support of institutional decision-making and planning. The incumbent assists senior administrators in the Research, Provost's and President's offices and UNR Extension with tracking metrics for strategic initiatives; collecting data from institutional repositories and external sources (e.g., federal, state, and local agencies or private organizations); performing analysis with leadership and PIs; and working with the leadership of UNLV and the UNR extension to present and interpret actionable information and results. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS This position requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and 5-7 years of experience. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date. OTHER EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT A graduate degree is strongly preferred for this position. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS This position requires 5 years of work experience in a similar role.
