We are non-profit located in Millersville, MD working community. We want a Staff Accountant who supports our mission and has strong grant accounting skills.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Contract/Temporary to hire Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional to contribute to a fast-paced, growing organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for grant accounting, account reconciliation, budgeting, grant budgeting, and month-end close processes.

Job Details

Responsibilities:
1. Oversee and manage the entire grant accounting process, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
2. Perform account reconciliations, identifying and resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.
3. Develop, implement, and maintain the organization's budget, working closely with various departments to ensure accuracy and alignment with financial goals.
4. Manage the grant budgeting process, ensuring funds are allocated appropriately and used efficiently.
5. Coordinate and execute the month-end close process, preparing and reviewing all necessary journal entries and financial reports.
6. Analyze financial data and create reports to provide insights to management on the financial health of the organization.
7. Collaborate with the finance team and other departments to streamline financial operations and improve financial performance.
8. Stay up-to-date with the latest financial regulations and standards, ensuring the organization's financial practices are in compliance.

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
2. A minimum of three years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the finance industry.
3. Proven experience with grant accounting, account reconciliation, budgeting, grant budgeting, and month-end close processes.
4. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
5. Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and create meaningful reports.
6. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
8. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
9. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
10. CPA or relevant certification is a plus.
