Grant Accountant

Responsibilities of the Grant Accountant:
- Oversee the financial aspects of grants and contracts, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Monitor grant expenditures, ensuring adherence to funding source regulations and internal policies.
- Prepare accurate financial reports, including cash flow projections, financial statements, and grant-specific reports.
- Collaborate with program managers to provide timely financial information for grant reporting purposes.
- Assist in developing and preparing grant budgets in collaboration with program staff and senior management.
- Support the annual budgeting process, aligning grants with overall organizational objectives.
- Ensure strict adherence to grant funding guidelines, regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Work closely with program managers and auditors to address findings or recommendations related to grant finances.
- Analyze financial data and performance metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in grant accounting and reporting.
- Collaborate with the finance team to streamline financial processes and systems.
Requirements of the Grant Accountant:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in grant accounting, preferably in a non-profit environment.
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), grant accounting standards, and regulations
- Proficiency in financial management systems and tools, including ERP systems and MS Excel.
