The Program Director will oversee the coordination and administration of NEMS Internal Medicine Residency program. This includes planning, organizing, staffing, and leading all program activities. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Plan the delivery of the overall residency program and its activities in accordance with the mission and goals of NEMS Design an educational experience that enables resident physicians to obtain the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to practice independently Develop and implement short term/long term goals and objectives to achieve successful outcome of the program Create and communicate departmental policies and procedures Ensure that the program complies with all relevant legislations, professional standards along with NEMS policies and procedures Ensure all finances are recorded and operates within budget Identify and evaluate the risks associated with program activities and take appropriate measures to control the risk Participate in the selection of faculty members and mentor staff Monitor and evaluate the program for improvement Works closely with the Administration team to obtain appropriate funding for the residency program Ensure the annual review and approval of a statement of institutional commitment that specifies a commitment to providing necessary educational, financial, and human resources for the residency program Contribute to strategic plan development for medical education Oversee the management and job performance evaluation of all personnel in the residency program Ensure compliance with ACGME Program Requirements and maintaining program accreditation Manage relationships and activities with national education societies, associations and organizations. Ensure that all programs have current, required program letters of agreement with other institutions' programs that provide training to NEMS residents/fellows Responsible for carrying out supervisory/managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and hiring of employees; planning, assigning, scheduling, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems Must allocate at least 50 percent FTE of non-clinical time to the administration of the program and must include ongoing clinical activity Performs other job duties as required by manager/supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrate specialty expertise and a minimum of 3 years of graduate medical educational and/or administrative experience Current certification in the specialty by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM), or specialty qualifications that are acceptable to the review committee AND Current medical licensure and appropriate medical staff appointment LANGUAGE: Bilingual preferred in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) STATUS: This is an FLSA exempt position.
