What You'll Do Chantilly, VA is the preferred location for this role, but the person hired can sit in any of ECS' established offices in the Mid-Atlantic Region (VA, MD, DC, PA, NJ, NY) Work with subsidiary and national leadership to develop a strategic business plan for growth of the Geostructural service line Pursue Geostructural design opportunities throughout the Mid-Atlantic region which likely will include general and specialty contractors; develop business relationships with these contractors Build a team of professionals and/or work with existing personnel to grow this service line Review submittals from contractors awarded Geostructural designs, including vendor qualifications, materials, procedures, proof and verification tests, and other related construction documentation As needed to maintain expected productivity goals initially until the service line is well established, management of geotechnical engineering projects, which will consist of performing boring layouts, obtaining utility clearances, supervising drill rigs, performing in-situ testing, classifying soils, determining appropriate laboratory tests, performing engineering analyses, and preparing geotechnical engineering reports Responsible for day-to-day operations of the service line with a strong commitment to growth and profitability Foster a supportive, inclusive, innovative, and dynamic company culture Perform calculations and designs related to the service line Manage personnel ensuring that time and resources are used efficiently to consistently deliver results Responsible for complying with corporate-level and office-specific Quality Management Systems (QMS) related policies and procedures; including adoption, implementation, and enforcement Train and supervise both existing and new staff Conduct and/or assist with coaching, performance evaluations, discipline, and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with ECS company policy Maintain appropriate staff levels with approval by your management What We're Looking For Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geological Engineering, or similar required 10+ years of related experience as an engineering consultant/designer in the Geostructural or Geotechnical industry Capable of meeting the promotion requirements of an ECS Associate Principal or Principal within 6 months of hire date If driving for, or on behalf of, any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required.
