General Manager Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to oversee all aspects of our repair operations, including commercial and government contracts. The candidate must have a strong background in dry dock shipyard management, with proven leadership skills and a deep understanding of ship repair processes and regulations.

General Manager Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans to drive growth and profitability in both commercial and government sectors. Identify new business opportunities and develop relationships with potential clients.
  • Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day operations of the repair shipyard, including scheduling, resource allocation, and quality control. Ensure that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
  • Financial Management: Manage the financial performance of the repair shipyard, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control. Monitor key financial metrics and implement strategies to optimize profitability. Develop, mange and control facility maintenance budgets and ROI on cap-ex projects. Ensure Earned Value Management reporting is timely and accurate.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including safety, environmental, and quality standards. Maintain a safe and secure work environment for employees and contractors.
  • Client Relationship Management: Working with Sales, build and maintain strong relationships with commercial and government clients. Serve as the primary point of contact for client inquiries, feedback, and concerns. Ensure that client expectations are met or exceeded on every project.
  • Team Leadership: Provide strong leadership and direction to the repair shipyard team. Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Coach and mentor subordinates to develop their skills and capabilities to continually support shipyard growth.
  • Vendor and Supplier Management: Work with Purchasing, Finance and the project managers to support relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services. Review contracts and agreements to optimize cost and quality.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with repair projects, including technical, financial, and operational risks. Develop contingency plans to address unforeseen challenges and disruptions.

General Manager Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Business Administration, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 15 years of experience in shipyard management, with a focus on repair and maintenance operations.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and government contracting processes and regulations.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Proven track record of driving business growth and profitability in a competitive market.
  • Experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders and tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices in safety, environmental stewardship, and quality management.
  • Highly proficient in the following software, Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Salesforce and strong understanding of time keeping, inventory, billing software.

?Pay Range from $120,000 - $140,000 per year
