Position Summary

The General Manager will oversee the management of a client-based operation out of Charlotte, NC. Achieve optimum labor and the least amount of overhead and resource costs. Oversee maximum efficiency in the design and output of processes and teams. Ensure deliverables operate at levels that meet customers' needs and established financial benchmarks. Formulate and recommend policies and programs that guide the Company in maintaining, retaining, and growing its competitive position and profitability. Direct activities so that approved deliverables are completed on schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Providing day-to-day leadership and management reflecting the core values of the Company
  • Managing District Managers and Warehouse Managers to ensure deliverables are achieved in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Execution of deliverables to achieve and meet business goals and objectives, contributing towards profitability
  • Ensuring measurement and effectiveness of all internal and external processes; providing timely, accurate, and complete reports on the operating condition of the Company
  • Executing the development, communication, and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes
  • Fostering a success-oriented, accountable environment within the Company
  • Representing the firm by maintaining relationships with clients and ensuring contractual and ongoing relationships
  • Ensuring standards for quality, client expectations, and operator performance are maintained, and that cost-effective technology and processes are utilized to maximize production and preserved
  • Developing, monitoring, and reporting operating costs within functional areas; alerting the Regional Vice President of cost and labor overrun; recommending and implementing solutions to problems.
  • Ensuring deliverables are made according to needs, specifications, and quality standards
  • Advising managers on labor issues including safety, security, employee relations, scheduling, training, grievances, and the like; ensuring managers and supervisors comply with company policies and administering practices in fair and equitable manner
  • Managing and maintaining effectively budget and controls expenses
  • Hiring, training, developing, and appraising staff effectively; taking corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policies
  • Keeping up to date on information and technology affecting functional area(s) to increase innovation and ensure compliance, and WMS experience
  • Manage logistics services
  • Performing other work-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7 or more years of industry experience
  • Must have BOS and WH/XDT experience, and proven processes
  • Must have experience managing a team of 30+ people
  • Must have experience with independent contractors
  • Must be PC proficient and can present functional specifications to IT department
  • Ability to complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner and to be conscientious about assignments
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company
  • Ability to exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others and works to maintain constructive working relationships
