Job Description GENERAL MAINTENANCE WORKER, SENIOR Mission Department Eglin AFB Open Position Request Number R-31-24 CLASSIFICATION: General Maintenance Worker, Senior; CBA Rate $28.71 Hourly GRADE: Non-Exempt; Regular Full-time LOCATION: Test Area C-52C (DeFuniak Springs) / Eglin AFB - On Site POSTING DATE: Available to Internal Applicants (4/4/2024) / Available to External Applicants (4/11/2024) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Senior General Maintenance Workers perform with minimum supervision as part of a maintenance crew. They may be required to be familiar with the use and maintenance of personal safety climbing accessories. Structures may not be equipped with climbing cages, but all will be equipped with safety devices for ascending and descending towers. Other functions include planning, estimates and providing guidance or instructions to lesser skilled personnel. Essential job functions may also include direct mission support, controlling range test areas and/or repairs to towers, involving replacement of cross-members, bolts, and other tower hardware. The position may require the ability to climb towers up to 300 feet in height. Job functions may also involve working in extreme weather conditions or at heights for extended periods. May be required to work in direct contact with test personnel. May be required to operate industrial support equipment such as forklifts, aircraft tugs, street sweepers and other small equipment. GENERAL DUTIES: This position is in support of the test and training activities located within the C-52 Complex. Position will report to the Technical Support Supervisor at the C-52 Complex and is involved in the maintenance and repair of exterior structures, buildings, fixtures/targets, automated target systems (ATS) and utilities, requiring the use of a variety of trade practices associated with occupations such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, cement work, painting, small engine repair, hydraulics, tower maintenance and other related trades. The primary functions are target, range, and facility maintenance including automated targetry maintenance and operations, targetry construction, and other duties as assigned in support of the operations located at the C-52 Complex. Maintenance duties may be performed outdoors, on or off ranges, and in extreme weather conditions. Essential functions will include, but not limited to, fabricating stationary targets, troubleshooting, and maintaining automated target systems (ATS), imputing scenarios into ATS controller(s), operating Handheld Controllers for operating ATS, and maintaining grounds, facilities, and other items. Incumbent may be required to give directions to lower-level technicians. The Senior General Maintenance Worker performs a variety of tasks involved in the construction and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and related structures, fixtures, and utilities, and may be responsible for test setup and support. Typical work assignments include the performance of visual examinations and operational tests to determine the need for, and the performance of, repair work on a level of difficulty and responsibility of trades such as those described in job descriptions for Master Electrician, Master HVAC Mechanic, and Master Carpenter. Job Requirements EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Formal training, acquired through vocational certification or military service school training or a certified apprenticeship program, in at least one of the following disciplines: carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, cement work, concrete strength testing, range controlling, surveying, hydraulics, tower maintenance, small engine repair or painting, and 5 years of combined experience in at least two of the trades mentioned above, of which 3 years has been on the E-OMS contract or, 10 years' experience in at least two of the following disciplines: carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, cement work, range controlling, surveying, hydraulics, tower maintenance, or painting, and 3 years of E-OMS range experience. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Tower climbing experience may be required and if so, incumbents will be required to attend climbing school for certification and attend periodic training courses to remain certified. A valid driver's license and the ability to pass a flightline driving test may be required. Respirator qualifications are required in some areas. May be required to possess or obtain a Class "A" CDL license. This position requires a Secret security clearance. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement. Applicant must have knowledge and understanding of Surface Danger Zones (SDZs) and Weapon Profiles as related to Eglin test/training operations. Must have knowledge and understanding of range access procedures ("Z" Clearance). Knowledge with Army Fire Desk operations, Army training procedures, and Army live fire training is a plus. Prior background maintaining US Army automated target systems is a plus. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Will be required to work outside in hot and cold weather. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires good physical conditioning; ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds, stand, bend, crawl, and work in awkward positions. The ability to work at heights may be required.
