We are seeking a experienced Accountant to join our team in the finance industry. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing both high-level and detail-focused accounting tasks. This position will play a pivotal role in our finance department, ensuring the accuracy of financial data, preparing financial reports, and providing financial information to the company's management team. This role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for non-profit work. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with various departments and contributing to the financial health and sustainability of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the accounting team to develop work papers for annual audits and IRS Form 990.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accurate and timely month-end close.
  • Collaborate with the various departments on the funding pipeline, providing financial insights and recommendations.
  • Work closely with the Revenue Specialist on monthly contribution entries and reconciliations.
  • Generate monthly reports from various fundraising platforms and reconcile them with bank deposits.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal policies, regulatory requirements, and non-profit accounting standards.
  • Analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand.
  • Participate in budgeting and risk management processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Two to four or more years' experience in accounting; non-profit experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting and legislation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence, and executive presence - ability to motivate staff.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
