We are seeking a experienced Accountant to join our team in the finance industry. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing both high-level and detail-focused accounting tasks. This position will play a pivotal role in our finance department, ensuring the accuracy of financial data, preparing financial reports, and providing financial information to the company's management team. This role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for non-profit work. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with various departments and contributing to the financial health and sustainability of the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the accounting team to develop work papers for annual audits and IRS Form 990.
- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accurate and timely month-end close.
- Collaborate with the various departments on the funding pipeline, providing financial insights and recommendations.
- Work closely with the Revenue Specialist on monthly contribution entries and reconciliations.
- Generate monthly reports from various fundraising platforms and reconcile them with bank deposits.
- Ensure compliance with all internal policies, regulatory requirements, and non-profit accounting standards.
- Analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand.
- Participate in budgeting and risk management processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
- Two to four or more years' experience in accounting; non-profit experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting and legislation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software.
- Excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence, and executive presence - ability to motivate staff.
- Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
- Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
