General Labor Machine Operator

Headquartered in Coventry Rhode Island, Seaside Casual Furniture manufactures outdoor furniture out of EnviroWood , an all-weather, low-maintenance, eco-friendly material made from recycled bottles and jugs. As a division of a family-owned and operated business for over 100 years, Seaside Casual has been leading the casual furniture industry with its award-winning design and manufacturing since 1996.

PURPOSE:

A Machine Operator is responsible for performing various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot machinery on assigned machines. The Machine Operator will also be responsible for inspecting parts to specifications and making adjustments, or tool changes as necessary to maintain quality specifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Work from specifications to call up programs.
  • Loads fixture boards and materials onto machines.
  • Ensures machines are properly setup, runs (or assist with) first piece inspection.
  • Assures products are produced to companies quality standards.
  • Works with operation team to meet daily production goals.
  • Performs secondary and cleaning operations as needed.
  • Work independently in a team environment.

OTHER JOB DUTIES:
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance.
  • Housekeeping and sanitation of machine/equipment.

All other duties Perform all other duties as assigned including carrying out responsibilities, performing duties, using skills, and working in conditions necessary to perform all assigned tasks

Qualifications

COMPETENCIES/SKILLS:
  • Basic reading and math skills
  • Basic computer competency such as MS Windows, email, and word processor.
  • Ability to problem solve independently.
  • Concentration.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to follow instructions and production schedules.
  • Able to act quickly and appropriately when a problem arises.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. multiple times per day.
  • Stand on their feet for a prolonged amount of time and need to bend, lift, carry, and stretch to perform their duties, production operators should possess adequate fitness and stamina.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Graduation or equivalent. Must be able to comprehend and read basic English.
  • Mechanically inclined, familiar with light production tools such as drills, routers, sanders, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Experience in a production environment a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
