Job Announcement Flyer: Duties:SSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi reserves the right to change, amend, add, delete and otherwise assign any and all duties, responsibilities and position titles as it deems necessary to meet the needs of the government. 1. Examines individuals requesting care, diagnoses their dental/oral conditions, prescribes and carries out, or directs others in carrying out, appropriate dental/oral treatment, or refers individuals for specialty consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines. 2. Records patient-dentist transactions as they occur in the patient's dental record so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the contact the condition of the patient and the care or treatment provided. In addition, shall complete referrals, data collections instruments and other records or paper works as shall be required from time to time. 3. Educates individuals in the nature of oral health related conditions and in the general promotion of oral health related disease prevention. 4. Assists in the provision of continuing education, on-the-job training, and the orientation of staff as requested. 5. Designs, develops, and implements appropriate dental policies, protocols and procedures, which are in compliance with the most current accepted professional standards, with the Dental Director. 6. Assists in the preparation of an operating budget for the dental unit and in conjunction with the Dental Director and oversees compliance with the dental unit's budget. 7. May assist in preparing special grant and project budgets as required to meet the goals of NHBP in relation to dental services. 8. Participates in short and long term program planning for the dental unit and department including development of goals and objectives. 9. Provides consultation to the Dental Director and Journey to Wellness Committee regarding dental and oral health issues. 10. Travels when necessary to fulfill the department needs and attends meetings as necessary to represent NHBP and/or the Health and Human Services Department/dental unit. 11. Assists in developing the department's dental health care plan. 12. Assists in the coordination and integration of the dental programs and services with other department programs and services for the welfare of the patients. 13. Performs evaluations of their dental staff as directed by the policy of NHBP. 14. Supervises, advises, counsels and disciplines all de Qualifications:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS An applicant's education, training and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate that the applicant possesses the ability to successfully perform each of the essential functions. The requirements listed below are generally representative of the education, experience, and skills and/or ability required to enable one to successfully perform the essential functions associated with his position: 1. Graduation from an accredited dental school with an unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of Michigan. 2. Completion of an accredited general practice residency program. 3. Possess a DEA license. 4. Requires a comprehensive knowledge of primary dental care in outpatient settings. 5. Knowledge of the principles and practice of modern dentistry as related to public health organizations and community health programs as well as current social and economic problems pertaining to public health and their impact on primary health care. 6. Must be able to creatively work with other health care professionals from a variety of disciplines to achieve maximal productivity and programmatic effectiveness while continuously promoting the growth and development of fellow professionals, exercising appropriate supervisory control and displaying good work judgment. 7. Able to understand, gain knowledge and appreciate the difference of Native American culture and customs. 8. Must maintain a valid driver's license with good driving record; GSA certifiable. 9. Must be able to travel. 10. Must be able to successfully complete and pass a comprehensive background investigation and drug screening; must not have been found guilty of, or pled guilty or no contest to, any felony or misdemeanor offense under federal, state or Tribal law involving crimes of violence, sexual assault, molestation, prostitution, or other crimes against persons, or offenses committed against children; must be able to successfully pass a drug screening. 11. Ability to become CPR/First Aid certified as training is available 12. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, including HIPAA requirements. 13. Excellent interpersonal/human relation skills.
