The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers. Education Debt Reduction Program: This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.


Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases


Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of annual paid time offer per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)


Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

Work Schedule: The tour of duty for this position is typically days. Additional information may be provided during the interview process


Duties:

  • outpatient and inpatient GI consultation
  • inpatient and outpatient procedures
  • administrative roles and options for research and education
  • overnight and weekend call is light and supported by GI fellow.

The candidate would be eligible for academic appointment at the University of Minnesota and expected to participate in the teaching and mentoring of gastroenterology fellows, medical residents, and medical students. Additional duties outside the referral coordination include diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal diseases according to evidenced based methods and techniques. The ideal candidate must be proficient at routine GI procedures such as: colonoscopy, EGD and capsule endoscopy, and its associated interventions (polypectomy, esophageal dilation, etc ).
