The Albuquerque Ambulatory Eye Surgery Center (AAESC) is currently looking to fill the following position:

Position: Nursing Assistant Four 10 hour shifts.
The Nursing Assistant is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide direct patient care to surgical patients during their stay in the Surgery Center, and prioritizing the delivery of direct nursing care using time and resources efficiently integrating high standards to promote positive surgical outcomes.

Nursing Assistant Job Duties May Include:
  • Work closely with the Pre-Op/PACU staff in planning, facilitating and evaluating surgical care to the patients.
  • Provide basic patient care activities under the direction of a licensed nurse.
  • Collect data and assist patients with activities before and/ or after their surgical procedure and document actions in the patient's chart.
  • Collect and record vital signs, monitor patients, provide simple patient teaching and discharge instructions.
  • Insure cleanliness of the units, perform clerical duties and transport patients.

Skills/ Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus specialization, short-term training in basic patient care.
  • One to three years' experience preferred. Receives on-the-job training and competency verification to perform primary functions.
  • Formal nurse's aide or medical technician preferred.
  • Must have effective organizational and communication skills.

The Albuquerque Ambulatory Eye Surgery Center is a joint venture, out-patient ophthalmology surgery center designed to provide quality care to the community.

We provide a gamut of Ophthalmology services:

Our staff is comprised of nurses, surgical scrub technicians, and nursing assistants who work side by side with surgeons and anesthesia providers in planning, facilitating and evaluating surgical care to patients.

We are currently looking for motivated individuals to work in our PreOp/ PACU areas. We are a fast-paced environment providing care to over 1,000 patients per month. We are a fun, talented, results driven, team-oriented group.
