SENIOR MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN - STORM WATER/SEWER Department: Public Services Division: Operations Pay Grade: GRADE 10: $43,079.76 - $64,619.64 Annual Salary, ($20.71 - $31.07) Hourly Rate FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Full-Time, Eligible for Benefits GENERAL PURPOSE This position performs skilled work in the construction, maintenance, and related service activities related to street, sewer/storm water, traffic, and utility maintenance. Receives general supervision from the supervisor or crew leader. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Operate construction and maintenance equipment and power tools such as dump trucks, front-end loader, backhoe, vactor, flush truck, compressors, jack hammers, concrete saws, sewer rodders, mowers, edgers and blowers or any other equipment needed in sewer and storm water maintenance and repairs; maintain hand tools and assigned equipment; perform preventive maintenance on equipment. Know and understand underground utility locating procedures and "blue stake" policies and procedures. Read and interpret basic maps and blueprints. Direct and control traffic around work sites, setting up barricades and cones. Utilize proper safety precautions related to all work performed. Be available for recall during any hour for sewer and storm sewer emergencies, snow/ice control work, or other emergency conditions. Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner. Perform snow removal and ice control duties as required. Assist in pipe laying and pipeline repairs. Assist in tapping main lines. Willing to accept duty as the Division's stand-by person for a one-week period and respond to emergency calls 24-hours a day during this period. Participate in safety and risk management activities; take action to reduce liability to the city. Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position. Employee is required to work as a team and frequently meet with co-workers and supervisors; employee is required to communicate in-person with the public during office hours; and employee is required to use on-site equipment. Perform other related duties as required/assigned.
