Position Summary - Formulator, Principal Scientist (Exploratory Biopharmaceutics)

In Exploratory Biopharmaceutics (EB), you will have the ability to impact the lives of patients by working with multi-disciplinary research teams to help in developing novel, efficacious and safe therapeutic molecules. BMS is looking for a Principal Scientist with a desire to contribute in the fast-paced early development matrix environment by supporting pre-formulation, physico-chemical characterization, and formulation development of oral and parenteral dosage forms for new drug candidates in support of preclinical and clinical studies.

Job Responsibilities
  • In this laboratory-based position, a successful candidate will be responsible for pre-formulation and formulation development efforts for oral and parenteral drug products. Experience with designing and developing novel delivery technologies is preferred, such as particulate systems (nano or micro), hydrogel depots, lipid matricies, etc.
  • The incumbent candidate has a strong understanding of physical pharmacy, physico-chemical properties of small molecules including understanding degradation kinetics and pathways and biopharmaceutics principles. Experience with multiple modalities is a plus.
  • Candidate will issue periodic reports, assure compliance of the laboratory environment and work generated with corporate and regulatory guidelines.
  • A high level of energy and strong work ethic is critical to success.
  • Successful candidate will be expected to work in a dynamic and highly interdisciplinary environment to have an impactful scientific and technical contributions within the drug product development team and the respective project teams.
Job Requirement
  • Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics, Chemical or Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, or related disciplines with 8-10 years of experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of physical pharmacy, fundamentals of pre-formulation, chemistry, stability, and fundamental principles of pharmaceutical science essential for the development of oral and injectable dosage forms.
  • Hands on experience with analytical tools required.
  • The candidate must be innovative and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrating effectiveness as a team player on multidisciplinary teams resourced in a flexible and global environment is required.
