Duties Makes specific technical decisions on matters involving fire and emergency services, performing duties within broad policy and program guidance; exercises independent judgment in the analysis/solution of fire protection and fire prevention problems. Formulates policy and procedures for the administration and technical oversight of Army Fire Departments. Serves as a HQ IMCOM Fire Protection Specialist responsible for developing policy guidance for the establishment and operation of an effective IMCOM wide fire and emergency services program. Serves as an IMCOM technical authority for developing short-and long-range fire and emergency services goals and for the management of resources in terms of people, vehicles, and equipment. Responsible for planning, organizing, administering, overseeing and evaluating a program involving diverse structures and various fire protection responsibilities. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer. This position requires the incumbent to wear the prescribed uniform and/or personal protective equipment while on duty. This position requires the incumbent to conform to the requirements set-forth in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1500, Fire Department Occupational Health and Safety Program. This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. DOD FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To occupy this position, at the time of appointment the incumbent must possess and then continue to maintain the following DoD Firefighter certification levels: Fire Officer IV Fire Instructor II Fire Inspector II HAZMAT Incident Commander Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience with a wide range of fire-fighting prevention and control principles, practices, laws, regulations, codes and techniques to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of mid and long-range prevention and protection measures; experience using U.S., DOD, OSHA, federal fire prevention and control policies, engineering techniques, traditional work practices, and fire building codes/standards; preventing and resolving HAZMAT incidents/events using the analysis of HAZMAT Pre-Incident Plans to determine plan effectiveness; and evaluating compliance of firefighting preventive measures using the knowledge of building design, construction standards, methods, and practices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Fire Prevention, Inspection, and Code Compliance

Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
