Job Description

Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. is seeking an Associate Director to join our Asset Management Department. The Associate Director is responsible for contributing to the growth, usage, and proficiency of Oppenheimer's financial planning capabilities within the business practices of its financial professionals. This position will report to the Managing Director and Head of Financial Planning. This position will be based out of the firm's headquarters at 85 Broad Street in New York City.

Responsibilities:

  • In partnership with financial professionals build goals-based financial plans by leveraging the firm's financial planning software
  • Be able to determine what material is needed to create financial plans for clients with a variety of goals and needs
  • Using information provided to you by the financial planners be able to determine and illustrate any gaps towards reaching goals as well as creating various "alternate" scenarios
  • Identify areas of deficiency and assist in the problem solving of certain functions within a client's plan when prompted by the firm's financial planners
  • Perform as an extended member of an financial planner's team in a planner capacity
  • Serve as a "subject matter expert" on the firm's financial planning proprietary and non-proprietary tools and calculators
  • Effectively present the results of goals-based planning findings to financial professionals and clients when applicable
  • Serve as a bridge to Oppenheimer's business units such as Oppenheimer Asset Management sales team, Oppenheimer Life Agency, Oppenheimer Trust Company of Delaware
  • Successfully pass and maintain industry licensing requirements including, but not limited to, Series 7 and 66 license registration, and state life and health insurance license within prescribed timeframes (unless otherwise already attained)
  • Work closely with financial planners and other team members while also being able to work independently to meet certain needs in a timely manner
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting or a related field preferred
  • Previous experience working with advisors or financial professionals strongly preferred
  • Knowledge and familiarity of branch functionality and also the financial professional/client relationship a plus
  • Strong time management skills is necessary
  • Ability to juggle multiple planning opportunities at different stages at once
  • Active Series 7, 66 (or 63 and 65) license registration, and state life and health insurance license preferred but not required upon hire
  • High ethical stands geared toward putting the clients' best interest first
  • Exceptional presentation skills

Compensation:

For job postings in New York City, Oppenheimer is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. This salary range is specific to the City of New York and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making salary decisions including but not limited to your skills, qualifications, experience, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range is $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 at the time of this posting. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as discretionary bonus.
