FINANCIAL CRIMES COMPLIANCE LEAD WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? The Financial Intelligence Lead is responsible for assisting the Financial Intelligence Supervisor or Manager, providing support to a team of Specialists or Analysts who are charged with the responsibility of performing Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering )AML or Office of Foreign Assets Control )OFAC/Sanctions related duties which may include one or more of the following: researching transaction monitoring alerts, conducting enhanced due diligence reviews, investigating client activity including reporting potential suspicious money laundering or terrorist financing activity or resolving OFAC/Sanctions alerts or escalated issues. The individual provides guidance and training in the specified function to the team while identifying opportunities to enhance processes. The lead is to be familiar with bank products, services, and potential money laundering risks, OFAC risks and other typologies associated with those activities. This position will assist the Financial Intelligence Supervisor or Manager to oversee all aspects of a compliant Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) or OFAC investigations program. What you will do
  • Assists in leading an analyst team responsible for performing timely alert resolution or investigations with well-reasoned and supported decision making
  • Reviews alerts or investigative cases and provides guidance as necessary
  • Ensures BSA, USA PATRIOT ACT, OFAC/Sanctions and CNB compliance and oversight as it relates to:
  • Conduct research through available Bank systems, the internet and databases consistent with the resolution of alerts or investigations.
  • Obtain the appropriate documentation to assist in identifying unusual transaction patterns or sanctions risk.
  • Document and report the investigation findings in the associated application or case management system and assists in report preparation reports to management as required.
  • Review recommendations for Unusual Transaction Reports (UTR) Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) or OFAC related reporting.
  • Identifies and recommends enhancements to workflow inefficiencies.
  • Identifies opportunities for enhancement or updates to policies and procedures and escalates to Financial Intel Supervisor or Manager.
  • Trains new specialists or analysts and provides continuous training materials and resources to the team. Ensures adherence to established policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for managing workflow to ensure all regulatory deadlines and service level agreements associated with the assigned area are met. Prepares work schedules as appropriate.
  • May assist with system changes, testing and maintenance of BSA/AML/OFAC related systems.
  • Communicates directly with branch personnel, relationship managers, other BSA related units and department managers; may assist with preparation for internal audit and other examinations as appropriate

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience in Banking Services, Quality Assurance, Audit or Operations
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with strong exposure to KYC/AML/CDD/EDD/Investigations or OFAC Sanctions

Skills and Knowledge

  • Bachelors Degree in business or related discipline or equivalent work/training required, professional qualification in KYC / AML /BSA/OFAC such as CAMS or CGSS is a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of BSA, OFAC and USA PATRIOT Acts
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of staff and Senior Management
  • Solid analytical skills with the ability to understand business functions and processes swiftly
  • Ability to be flexible, follow tight deadlines, organize and prioritize work and deliver results quickly
  • Above-average communication, conflict management and negotiation skills;
  • Motivated, team player, self- starter and able to work independently
  • Resourceful and internet savvy
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
Compensation Starting base salary: $78,970 - $126,140 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
